Technical Specs
Pitchle uses Equal Temperament, the same 12-tone tuning system found in most modern music.
- f₀ (220 Hz): The baseline frequency (A3).
- n (Index): The letter's position in the alphabet (A=0, B=1, ... Z=25).
A is 220 Hz; its "twin" letter M doubles to 440 Hz (one octave up), and Y doubles again to 880 Hz (two octaves up). Notice how A, M, and Y sound "similar!"
| A (0) | 220 × 20 | = 220 Hz | |
| M (12) | 220 × 21 | = 440 Hz | |
| Y (24) | 220 × 22 | = 880 Hz |
- 12-tone Chromatic Scale: Since there are 26 letters, Pitchle spans two octaves and a semitone.
- Piano Analogy: Think of the alphabet as a sequence of keys on a piano. As you move from A to Z, you are simply "walking" up the keyboard, hitting every white and black key in order.
This mapping creates a deterministic "melody" for every word in the English language.
